The second seminar also on Creating Cultures of Excellence was held at the Park Hotel.

Among the 75 participants, the seminar had invitees from the Government sector, like Secretaries to various Ministries who are the highest-ranking civil servants in India. Some of the chief secretaries had come, but most of them deputed their second or third in command. Additionally, CMDs of several public sector undertakings (PSUs) were invited. Here again, most of them deputed their HR heads or members of their senior executive team.

Also included in the invitees were Ms Kiran Bedi, Chief of Delhi Police and head of a Non Governmental Organisation along with a few officers from the Police department. Padmabhushan Prof. V S Ramamurthy, Department of Atomic Energy and Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Delhi, as well as former Secretary to Department of Science and Technology. He was very appreciative of the TPI curriculum and listened to what Lou had to say on the application of Cognitive Science.

Besides these Government and PSU officials, senior executives from the corporate sector, particularly HR professionals, also participated. These include members from National HRD network.

End Result:

  • Specifically targeted case studies resulted in bureaucrats being convinced of the effectiveness of the TPI curriculum.
  • Answering the question in the minds of most bureaucrats – the price versus effectiveness.
